Area legislators to address Chamber
DALLAS The Greater Dallas Chamber will host its first Legislative Luncheon of 2008 on April 17, 2008. This is the first in a series of legislative luncheons that continue throughout the year.
Three members of the North Texas state legislative delegation will visit with Chamber members and guests at 12 noon in the Westin City Center, 650 North Pearl St., Dallas, TX 75201. The luncheon will be held on the 16th floor. Admission is $45 for Chamber members and $90 for non-members, reservations may be made on line at www.dallaschamber.org/govrelations or by calling 214-746-6724.
Senator Bob Deuell, Representatives Joe Driver and Barbara Mallory Caraway will update the Chamber on interim activities as well as their legislative priorities and predictions for the 2009 session.
Senator Bob Deuell is a family physician from Greenville Texas. He has been a Senate member since 2003. Currently, Senator Deuell serves on the Senate Finance Committee, the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and the Senate Committee on Criminal Justice. He also serves as Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services. In addition, Senator Deuell was selected by Lt. Governor Dewhurst to serve on the Sunset Advisory Commission, and also serves as a member of the Rural Caucus.
Representative Joe Driver has been a Texas Representative since 1993. He currently serves on the following committees: Law Enforcement Committee, Chairman, Environmental Regulation Committee, Conservative Coalition, Republican Caucus and the Texas Legislative Sportsman Caucus.
Representative Barbara Mallory Caraway was elected to her first term in the Texas State House of Representatives on November 7, 2006. Prior, she served District 6 Dallas City Council for eight years from 1993 to 2001, until term limits forced her to retire. During her tenure she established the City of Dallas' Teen Court System and Youth Commission. She served as chair of the City of Dallas Transportation & Telecommunication Committee, Co-Chair of the Trinity Corridor Citizens Committee and served as the Vice-Chair of City of Dallas' Business and Commerce Committee.
