Sub-Rosa sponsors Macabre Tales for Eyes and Ears at Redblood Club in Deep Ellum
Great opportunity to support a family-owned business and own its diverse culture.
Macabre Tales For Eyes and Ears is the first in a series of themed art/music events The Sub-Rosa (a Dallas based art blog) is sponsoring in Deep Ellum and Expo Park.
This one focuses on the darker side of art. A side that became prevalent when plagues overran Western Europe, and art of beauty switched to art of death and disease. Dismissed as scary and grotesque, many forget that these artists are just as classically skilled as any store-bought Michelangelo reproduction. Though the popularity of such extreme pop and noir culture is widespread, it's something that a lot of establishments are afraid to tackle. These works seem to only get notice in horror movies and band flyers.
How perfect is it to give this craft it's due at Red Blood Club with music of the same tempo?
Vorvadoss, Akkolyte, Warcola, Molotov Compromise, and Electric Brown will play sets, and the Cadaver Cabaret will join us for a very special performance. The Sub will erect a showcase of artwork inside the venue for a one day only exhibit. Artists include Cathey Miller, Dawn The Butcher, Frank Campagna, Janelle Tohill, Monique Janette, and Turner Scott VanBlarcum. We will also have BBQ and some tasty vegan dishes.
All proceeds from this event will go towards helping Red Blood Club continue to bring great bands to Deep Ellum. Like many venues in the Deep Ellum/Expo Park, Red Blood Club recently applied and received their SUP. The process and it's negative light, which followed an isolated tragedy, left them struggling to keep shows going. Through it all Red Blood Club has persevered, bringing acts to Deep Ellum that usually skip the Dallas area, landing in either Denton or Austin. They've also shown great support for nurturing local talent.
Macabre Tales For Eyes and Ears is a great chance for Dallas to come out and support a family owned business and own it's diverse culture.
