The Hammerheads played soft for most of the night
The Thunder (5-2) concluded its unusual seven game homestand by posting season-highs for scoring and margin of victory as they knocked the previously Hammerheads (3-1) out of first place in the league standings.
Corpus Christi took a quick 7-0 just two plays into the game, but the Thunder scored the next three touchdowns for a 20-7 lead and never trailed again. Frisco led 33-23 at halftime and 52-23 after three.
Cooper, who played for Corpus Christi the past two seasons, finished 18 of 31 for 223 yards. Moses Harris, in his first Thunder appearance, scored three touchdowns on his first three catches and finished with five catches for 45 yards. Richard Morris (nine catches for 125 yards) and Jason Deml (4-53) caught two touchdowns each.
Ricky Madison rushed for three second-half touchdowns, including a franchise-long 33-yarder and a two-point conversion. Marcus Stiggers returned a Hammerhead interception
during the third quarter.
Harris was named the Thunder's offensive MVP while Stiggers garnered the Randy White Hall of Fame BBQ defensive MVP honor.
Hammerhead QB Dustin Almond, who played for Frisco last season, completed just 17 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Ed Gidding caught six passes for 91 yards.
Frisco begins its seven game road trip next Saturday at Odessa. Kickoff is 7:11 p.m.
