Plano City Council considering recycling, money for arts project
The Plano City Council will meet tonight and their agenda is relatively large, although the topics may have varying levels of interest. Among others, they will consider the adoption of several resolutions related to recycling, which, depending on your level of cynicism, could either be a great step toward more recycling availability in Plano or just a perfunctory acknowledgment of the just-completed Live Green Expo and upcoming Earth Day. Since resolutions are generally non-binding, you can make up your own mind about that one.
The city council will also consider a resolution to approve a Funding Agreement among the cities of Allen, Frisco, and Plano for additional funding in the amount of $100,000 for the Arts of Collin County project. Since McKinney residents are apparently unwilling to pony up the dough for the park/hall, I guess Plano and the two other cities are doing everything they can to make sure it gets done.
They'll also be doing other stuff, like spending $166,171 on a John Deere Excavator. I'm sure they're looking to buy new, but it sure seems like a big waste of money since someone in Texas is selling a used John Deere Excavator for $6,000. Ah, well, I'm sure they know what they're doing.
