Seattle Supersonics 99, Dallas Mavericks 95

The Dallas Mavericks lost a meaningless game --to them-- in what may well prove to be the final NBA game ever played in the city of Seattle Sunday night, as they went down 99-95 to the pathetic Supersonics. Dallas fell to 50-31 on the season, is all but locked into the seventh playoff seed and will play their final regular season game Wednesday against New Orleans.

The Supersonics will likely relocate to Oklahoma City next season, the result of an owner that is only too happy to get out of Seattle. The fans, while expressing their discontent with owner Clay Bennett's cut-and-run strategy, were nevertheless very vocal in support of their team. The Supersonics are currently experiencing the worst season in the 41 year history of the franchise.

Dirk Nowitzki led all scorers with 32 points off 13-of-25 shooting, including making 4 of his 9 three point attempts. Dirk rarely took the ball to the basket and seemed content to take painless shots from the perimeter all night, likely the result of the game's lack of playoff implications. Dirk also collected nine rebounds and had zero turnovers.

Josh Howard came back from an injury that had sidelined him for a few games, but was mostly ineffective, scoring 16 points on an inefficient 4-of-13 shooting performance. Howard also contributed seven rebounds and three assists.

Jason Terry had a good game, raining 25 points on the Sonics, while Jason Kidd had an uncharacteristically quiet game against a sub-.500 team, putting up just four points, 6 rebounds and eight assists.
