This week’s Parker City Council meeting canceled

Email Print Tell us your story Comment (1)

It's been announced that the Parker City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 15 has been canceled.

A call to the City Secretary's office yielded no information as to the reason for the cancellation, so one can only speculate that perhaps the council members need to finish up their taxes. In any case, we'll find out on Friday (April 18) whether the meeting will be rescheduled for Tuesday, April 22 - which seems to be the odds-on outcome.

In news of more imminent import, today (April 14) is the last day to make an application to the Parker Women's Club for a $2,000 student scholarship. If you're a Parker resident with a student in the household (or are, in fact, yourself a student) and haven't yet applied, it might behoove you (to the tune of $2,000) to drop by City Hall and pick up an application. Or call one of the women who run the club by using the contact information to be found here.

And finally, it should be noted that the City of Parker is recruiting reserve police officers. According to this note, the position requires "a positive, physically fit, self-motivated individual with Basic Peace Officer TCLEOSE Certification, at least 21 years of age, and valid Texas Driver License." Applicants with some college and six months police officer experience will find their prospects for hire more promising. If interested, submit a resume and application to: Human Resources Manager, City of Parker, 5700 East Parker Road, Parker, TX 75002; fax 972-442-2894; email jwebster@parkertexas.us.

Fresh information from City Secretary Carrie Smith indicates that Parker only holds a meeting on the third Tuesday if there's an emergency involved. No emergency = no meeting on the third Tuesday. There will be a council meeting next week (April 22).
