Woodall Rodgers Park is more than 10% of the way to its fundraising goal
DALLAS Private donations to fund a new deck park over Woodall Rodgers Freeway in downtown Dallas now total $11.5 million. The park will cost between $67 and $100 million, and the city hopes to break ground this year.

I'm not sure this headline is accurate. Of the expected 100 million price tag, only 60 million is expected to come from private donations and the city of Dallas and TXDOT have already committed to the other 40 million. If you carry the one then it looks like the group has raised over 1/3 of what it needs.

I hadn't heard of this before -- very interesting concept, although we'll see if it comes to fruition as they envisioned. Especially interesting is to see the rendering of proposed park that shows <a href="http://www.wrpproject.com/swf/main.htm">vast amounts of green space</a> north of Woodall Rogers. Really? 'Cause <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&geocode=&q=dallas+museum+of+art&near=Dallas,+TX&jsv=107&sll=32.78962,-96.800966&sspn=0.00855,0.020084&ie=UTF8&latlng=32787071,-96799419,1885402400822623810&ei=SpUDSIvGNJLYigGDxs2vCg&cd=1">the Uptown I know</a> seems to be almost completely covered in buildings and parking lots.

I have to agree it could be worded better to suggest they are part of the way through private donations. They have everything they need to build the park but just need a little more to build some amenities later when the major construction is finished.

Hate to jump on the bandwagon CC, but William and Dave (omg fictional character) seem to be correct purely based on the linked DMN article.
Foundation being the Woodall Rogers Park Foundation. However, William, article also says:
So even without 'amenities' they're still not quite there: $21M foundation + $20M Dallas + $20M TxDOT = $61M.
But WTF, what kind of restaurant & playground are we talking? And isn't a dog park just a designated area for dogs? Are they going to have happy endings from call dogs or something? Christ.

$67 million is a crap load of money to spend on a park. I guess it is expensive to build a cement deck in the air and plant grass/trees on it. Seems like a good use of resources, though. My understanding is that it will connect Downtown to Uptown in a way highway underpasses have never been able to.
