It’s a Grand Slam musical featuring a dazzling score that includes favorites such as "You Gotta Have Heart," "Whatever Lola Wants," "Two Lost Souls," "Near To You," and many more. Performances are scheduled for June 20, 21, 27 and 28 at 8:00 p.m., with matinees on June 22 and 29 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $19-$24 with special corporate and group rates also available. For tickets, call the Arts Center Box Office at 972-205-2790.
Damn Yankees will feature three well-known theatre personalities in leading roles. Also featured are Rod Blaydes as Joe Boyd, Jenay Puckett as his wife Meg, Delynda Johnson Moravec as Sister, Linda Frank as Doris, Doug Fowler as Van Buren and Emily Antrainer as Gloria Thorpe. The baseball team includes Keith Warren, Marty Scott, Todd Aragon, Alex Mancha, Carlos Gomez, Maurice Johnson, Chaz Wolcott, Christopher McCrae, and Tom Grugle. The cast also includes Beth Hamilton, Ashley Throneberry, Katharine Gentsch, Rachel Beebe, Jourdan Hurst, Brenna Yeary, Steve Beene, Rachel Tamez, Ralph Secketa and Ron Biancardi.
The 2008 GSM is under the professional direction of Buff Shurr, who is returning for his 26th season. White, and Costume Designer Michael Robinson.
The GSM continues in July with The Will Rogers Follies, a celebration and tribute to America’s hero, Will Rogers. It is filled with show-stopping dance routines, beautiful show girls and all the glitter and magic of a Ziegfeld Review! These productions are funded in part through special grants from the Garland Cultural Arts Commission, Inc., GSM Guild, Garland Power & Light, Louis Gene Garner, Ecolab, Kraft, and Gordon and Alice Stone.
