It is a good week for college theater since two major theater classics are coming to the stage: Hamlet and Hedda Gabler. The downside is that these shows run for this week only so try and go see them both. Click on the title for showtimes and dates:

  • Hamlet, presented by TCU Department of Theatre, from April 15-20. Shakespeare's story of the Danish Prince Hamlet who plots revenge on his uncle, the current king, for killing his father, the former king. For tickets ($5-10), call 817-257-5770.
  • Hedda Gabler, presented by Texas Woman's University, from April 17-20. Written by Ibsen and adapted by Jon Robin Baitz. Hedda Gabler, daughter of an impoverished General, has just returned from her honeymoon with George Tesman, an aspiring young academic — reliable, but not brilliant, who has combined research with their honeymoon. It becomes clear in the course of the play that she has never loved him, that she married him for economic security, and it is suggested she may be pregnant. The reappearance of George Tesman's academic rival, Eilert Løvborg, throws their lives into disarray. For ticket reservations ($5-10), call 940-898-2020.
