Sue Ellen’s raises the (lesbian) bar with new location
Don’t you just love that new bar smell? Fresh paint, new furniture with notes of lingering sawdust combine for olfactory excitement second only to freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Or maybe bacon.
But we digress. The new Sue Ellen’s opens tomorrow night at 10:00 p.m. with free cover and live music. And the lesbians are dancing in the streets like Hollywood was making a Desert Hearts sequel. The new incarnation of the iconic Dallas bar is kind of a “Sue Ellen’s 2.0” though. The move to the old Throckmorton Mining Company space not only makes it one of the nation’s largest lesbian bars, but one of the best gay bars anywhere. Period.
The former TMC has been de-caved and lightened up. State-of-the-art lighting and a powerful sound system will get your heart pumping as soon as you walk in the door.
Glass panes throughout the enormous space allow a fish-bowl view of the rest of the bar from almost any vantage point, whether upstairs or down. Hang out in the Lipstick Lounge and listen to the DJ spin from high above the dance floor, or walk into the soundproof Vixen Room, featuring a large stage for live music.
Once again, Sue Ellen’s has raised the lesbian bar.

JW Richard, says:
Sounds like a happening! So glad gay clubs in Dallas are really beginning to "get it" about having live music spaces and Sue Ellen's has had it right for a while now.
