Highway 161 toll road extension approved by transportation agencies
North Dallas/Collin County Cowboy fans, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Since the Texas Department of Transportation and North Texas Tollway Authority reached a deal Friday for the extension of Highway 161 through Grand Prairie, you will no longer have to worry about driving among the masses who are unwilling or can't afford to pay tolls to get to Arlington using the road.
The extension should be (partially) finished by late summer 2009, just in time for the Cowboys to open their new stadium. So feel free to laugh at those poor suckers from the comforts of your oversized Hummers and gas-guzzling Mercedes as you whizz by them -- that is, until you have to merge onto I-30 or Division Street and get stuck in traffic like the regular schmoes.
