Dallas ‘50’s office structure demolished, ending preservationist hopes
It's a sign of the times in North Texas: old buildings go down whether preservationists want them to or not.
On Sunday morning (April 20) the structure that came face-to-face with the wrecking ball was a one-story office building at 2505 Turtle Creek Blvd. which went up in 1959. It was regarded by preservationists as a piece of mid-20th century history, but the developer - Great Gulf of Toronto - wants to build a high-rise condo and restaurant complex on the site.
Even though Great Gulf's rezoning application (which would allow the high-rise) had been denied by the City Plan Commission on April 3, the developers decided to proceed with knocking down the old building.
Chalk another one up to progress.

If someone wants to preserve a building, then they should buy it and preserve it. It's that simple really.
