The Dallas Mavericks came out with a new look Tuesday night, but to even worse result in a vomit-inducing 127-103 loss in New Orleans. The loss dropped the Mavericks into a 0-2 hole in the best of seven series, with the next two games at the AAC.

With Hornets guard Chris Paul tearing up the Mavs in Game 1, Dallas tried double-teaming the possible NBA MVP from the start of the game. Unfortunately for the Mavs, Paul was easily able to dribble around or pass through said defensive schemes, and finished the game with 32 points and seven assists.

The Hornets as a team shot over 60% from the field for the game, while also making 55% of their three point shots. The Mavericks shot a respectable 47%, but seemed unable or unwilling to execute basic defensive fundamentals at any point in the game.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks in scoring, with 27 points, 12 of which were from free throws, and seemed frustrated throughout the game. Dirk added five rebounds, five assists but had four costly turnovers as well.

Dirk's wingman, Josh Howard, had another subpar game, scoring just ten points on 3-of-10 shooting. Jason Kidd also had a quiet night, putting up 7 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists.

The Mavericks did get a healthy showing from their bench, with Brandon Bass scoring 19 points. Bass shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor and an equally perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw stripe. Jason Terry also had 16 points for the Mavericks.
