Oh ye of routine weekend plans, break free from the shackles of chain restaurant dinners and Blockbuster rentals and indulge in something new. To get you started, we’ve pulled together a week’s worth of outings that will kick your monotony right in the hoo-hah. The thrill may be so titillating that next thing we know you’ll be staying up late on a school night – gasp.
Opens Friday, April 25, 8:00 p.m.
Not to be confused with the similarly titled Little Shop of Whores, this musical celebration of a man- (and woman-) eating plant from outer space always makes for a fun night out. If only everything in life could be narrated by sparkly dress-wearing Doo-Wop singers.
Tickets: $20. McKinney Performing Arts Center.
Saturday, April 26, 7:00 p.m.
Warning: the princess of bubble gum punk’s music has the uncanny ability to get stuck in your head forever. Just ask the people in the asylum rocking back and forth while quietly singing “Sk8ter Boi” or “Girlfriend” on an endless loop. But if you are up for the challenge, and a venue full of screaming teenagers, have fun. Opening for Avril is Boys Like Girls (see we promote all sorts of lifestyle choices on Gay List Daily).
Tickets: $25 - $60. Superpages.com Center (the artist formerly known as Smirnoff Music Center).
Sunday, April 27, 8:00 p.m.
You may remember the collective squeal of gay delight that rumbled through North Texas when it was announced that Margaret Cho was bringing her biting wit back to town. Any ‘mo worth his Prada loafers knows this is the must-have ticket of the season. Make sure to get yours or let the ostracism begin.
Tickets: $35 - $49. Nokia Theatre.
Through Sunday, April 27
You know what goes great with white wine? More wine. Oh, and food, too. This multi-day eating and drinking extravaganza has a little something for everyone including a Rising Star Chef’s Dinner, an “Everyday Wines for Everyday People” course and Texas Salute! dining night where “jeans are not only allowed, they’re encouraged.” Hmmm, wonder how they’ll feel about our elastic waistband sweatpants?

Through Friday, May 16
You thought we were discussing feminine hygiene products again, right? Well, you were all wrong. We only do that once a month. These minis and maxis are part of the fabulous 1965-75 fashion collection at Fashion on Main. Make sure you go-go before these psychedelic styles are gone gone.
Fashion on Main. 1901 Main Street, Dallas, www.tfc.unt.edu
