Theater Spotlight of the Week: Julie Johnson
Interview with Julie Johnson, leading actress in Hello, Dolly!
Julie Johnson has quite the reputation, and its not just with musical theater. She was a Theater World Award winner for her New York debut performance in Das Barbecu, stars in great productions here in DFW, but she also does the voiceover for Baby Bop on "Barney & Friends." Now, she is starring in the title role of Hello, Dolly! presented by Lyric Stage so it was the perfect time to feature her.
We start off by talking about how she became an actress and decided that this is what she wanted to do. I ask her what brought her to Dallas to do theater and she talks about the musical theater scene here.

Since she is such a busy woman, I ask what makes her decide to do a musical and how she is able to balance this, the TV show, and raising her kid.
I then ask what attracted her to the role of Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly! and she explains why this is a role she has always wanted to play. She also reveals what she wants the audience to walk away with after seeing the show.
I end the interview by asking her what roles have been her favorite to play and what she still dreams to perform.
Hello, Dolly! runs from April 25 - May 10. Purchase tickets online or by calling 972-252-2787.
