FC Dallas ended its undefeated streak on Thursday night in Frisco with a 1-0 loss to the New England Revolution. Despite the absence of star forward Taylor Twellman in the lineup, the Revs had FCD's number once again on our home pitch.

Shots on net were few and far between as both teams were firing away but missing the target. Midway through the first half, Dallas had their best opportunity off a corner kick from Dax McCarty. Juan Toja got managed a shot off the cross, but Revs keeper Matt Reis made a diving save to keep the game scoreless. Despite two promising crosses in the first half, New England's headers were weak and couldn't capitalize on the opportunities.

Their luck changed, however, in the second half. Two early chances for Dallas missed the mark or were easily handled by Reis, and New England took the stream of play into their own hands. After a slew of chances, NE forward Khano Smith chased down a ball in the 72nd minute, beat Dax McCarty from the left side and cut towards the top of the goal box. Ripping a low shot, he beat FCD keeper Dario Sala for the point. Despite a number of opportunities to equalize, Dallas was unable to match Smith's effort and the game ended with New England on top.

This was FC Dallas’ first loss of the season and the first time the team has been shutout this year.

FCD is now 2-1-2, 8 pts on the season (1-1-1 at home), and in first place in the Western Conference.

FCD’s all-time record versus New England is now 9-20-1, and 4-11-1 at home.

The Revs goal in the 72nd ended Dallas’ streak of consecutive minutes without surrendering a goal at 252 minutes, the longest in the league this year.

This was the first game this season in which FC Dallas did not lead at the half, and second game in which the opponent scored first.

This was the first of four games scheduled for ESPN2.

Juan Toja and Pablo Ricchetti returned after missing the last game with injuries.

Today’s attendance was 10,453.

FC Dallas will have the weekend off and return to MLS play on Saturday, May 3 when they visit the San Jose Earthquakes in California (9 pm CT, KFWD-52).

Steve Morrow on the game: “I think we deserved to get something out of the game. I think New England came in here and stole the game from us; we completed dominated the game from start to finish. We’re very, very disappointed to lose that game. They had one shot on goal the second half, and we’re extremely disappointed.”
