UPDATED: Carrollton holds hazardous waste event May 3

CARROLLTON — The City of Carrollton is having a free home chemical collection event, Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1441 W. Trinity Mills at Blanton in the parking lot in front of the old Home Depot and next to Anderson Furniture (in the vicinity of the President George Bush Turnpike at Stemmons Freeway).

Items accepted include pool and yard chemicals, craft and hobby supplies, batteries (all kinds), automotive fluids, oil filters, gasoline, paint and other home repair products, household cleaners and polishes, and fluorescent light tubes.

Participants should not bring business waste, electronics, used tires, medical waste, smoke detectors, radioactive material, containers larger than five gallons, explosive or shock sensitive material. Trash and non-chemical recyclables should be set out in the proper carts at residents’ regular pick up times for service through Allied Waste.

The event will be held rain or shine at no charge to attendees who bring their drivers license and recent utility bill as proof of residence in the City of Carrollton.

Residents who need to safely dispose of waste before the in-town event may visit the Home Chemical Collection Center, 11234 Plano Road, in northeast Dallas between Miller Road and Forest Lane. For information or hours of operation, call 214-553-1765.

UPDATE: The City of Farmers Branch has announced that the household hazardous waste collection event in Carrollton is also open to Farmers Branch Residents.
