The fourth season of Food Network's "Next Star" reality show-contest is back on Sunday, June 1 with a finalist from Dallas among the 10 contestants: Liza Garza, co-owner with chef-husband Gilbert Gaza of Suze (a revelation first leaked by Nancy N. on April 1).
Other contestants include Nipa Bhatt from MN, Jennifer Cochrane from RI, Adam Gertler from Philadelphia, Cory Kahaney from NYC, Shane Lyons from CO, Aaron McCargo Jr. from NJ, Kelsey Nixon from UT, Kevin Roberts from San Diego, and Jeffrey Vaden from White Plains, NY. Does it seem awfully convenient that there are contestants seemingly chosen from around the country?
Challenges include a late-night race through the streets of Manhattan; creating easy versions of complicated dishes for the staff of Bon Appetit; teaming up with girl scouts to create healthy meals; and cooking under the bright lights on the Las Vegas strip.
The winner will be revealed during the finale on Sunday, July 27, and will receive a six-episode show that will premiere in August 2008. Ballot-stuffers can make their voices heard by logging on to the Web site and voting, starting Monday, June 2. The finalist with the most votes will be crowned "fan favorite" and will win "assorted prizes".
