Arlington and Fort Worth teaming up for Gun & Gang Busters program
On Wednesday April 30, 2008, US Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Richard Roper, Fort Worth PD Interim Chief Patricia Kneblick, Arlington PD Assistant Chief Steve Chaney and Safe City Commission Executive Director Ken Shetter will announce the official launch of the “Gun & Gang Busters” program. The press conference will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the Safe City Commission, 200 Calhoun Street (southwest corner of 1st and Calhoun) in Fort Worth
Through “Gun & Gang Busters”, tipsters providing information about gun or gang crimes will earn a bonus reward of up to $250 (in addition to the regular Crime Stoppers reward) if their tip leads to an arrest. The program will be promoted with posters distributed to every Tarrant County high school and middle school, billboards, and door hangers and direct mail pieces distributed to neighborhoods experiencing high incidents of gang crimes. The program is part of the North Texas Project Safe Neighborhoods program and is a partnership between the US Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, local law enforcement agencies and the Safe City Commission.
Following the press conference, police officers and city officials will distribute “Gun & Gang Busters” door hangers in Fort Worth and Arlington.
