Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD offers a Two Way Dual Language Program to district kindergarteners
CARROLLTON The Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD is offering a Two Way Dual Language Program to students entering kindergarten in the fall of 2008.
C-FB ISD launched the Two Way Dual Language Program in the fall of 2006. The three-year program offers the opportunity for native English speakers and native Spanish speakers to learn to read, write and speak in both languages. From kindergarten through the second grade, students in the Two Way Dual Language Program develop strong literacy skills in both English and Spanish. The Two Way Dual Language Program is offered at Blanton Elementary, Stark Elementary, Montgomery Primary and Thompson Elementary.
Students entering kindergarten in the fall of 2008 may apply to participate in the program. The application includes a fluency test. Acceptance into the program is limited to the space and availability at the four campuses. Parents are asked to agree to a three year commitment to the program upon acceptance.
Placement will be based on the availability per campus and/or until seats are filled on a first-come first-served basis. Cut-off date to transfer into the Two Way Dual Language Program is Oct. 1, 2008, and the program is for students entering kindergarten only.
