Fort Worth's Lone Star Film Society, host of the Lone Star Film Festival, wants to make us aware of some upcoming movie events, including:
* An April 30 evening screening of American Fork, at the Modern Art Museum at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $8.50 to the general public, $6.50 for members of the Modern Art Museum and the Lone Star Film Society, and $5.50 for students. This marks the first of a planned quarterly film series (dubbed Kinetiq) featuring non-distributed indie pics which the Modern Art folks deem to be of high quality.
* On May 1, the Texas Christian University Dept. of Radio and Television offers up the premiere screening of fork in the road, playing at 6 p.m. in Moudy Building Room 141N (2805 S. University Drive). This little film production is a sitcom pilot created by TCU students in a department-wide project. The feature presentation will be preceded by a red carpet ceremony.
* On May 2, the Creative Arts Theatre and School opens Disney's Beauty and the Beast, including (hold onto your singing/dancing candelabra!) a tea party during intermission hosted by Belle and friends. Reservations should be made early, as there are only 30 seats available for each performance - go here to purchase tickets (which run $5/person). The show runs through May 11.
* On May 3, as part of Mayfest, Lauren-Claire Poitevent will perform from 4 - 5 p.m. on the Children's Stage. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for kids; for details go here and click on the Entertainment tab (Stages & Schedules).
* And don't forget - if you're up for a road trip (500 miles, anyone? Split the gas?), May 1 kicks off the first-ever Marfa Film Festival, which the Lone Star Film Society is supporting.
