TEA marks 32 Denton County schools as “Exemplary”
13 of 17 Northwest ISD schools were marked Exemplary or Recognized. It's clear why. See that kid running the stairs there? Yeah, he failed his geography test.
The Texas Education Agency released its 2008 Academic Accountability ratings on Friday, August 1. Of the 158 schools in Denton County, 32 were graded as "Exemplary," the TEA's highest rating. While no schools in Denton County received the lowest rating of "Academically Unacceptable," the Education Centers, on the whole, received such a rating.
Three school districts received the "Recognized" rating: Krum ISD, Aubrey ISD, and Northwest ISD. Lewisville ISD is the largest school district in Denton County with 62 school. Of those, 23 were marked Exemplary and 21 as Recognized. Denton ISD contains 31 schools, three 3 marked Exemplary and 11 Recognized.
The base indicators employed by the TEA in determining academic accountability scores were performance on the Spring 2007 TAKS test, completion rates for the class of 2007, and dropout rates among 7th and 8th graders for 2006-07.
