Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek wins Dallas’ annual Caesar salad competition
The AIWF had its annual "Caesar Salad competition" on Sunday August 3 at the Fairmont Hotel with winners as follows:
- First place: The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek.
- Second place: Pyramid Restaurant at -- The Fairmont Dallas! Imagine that.
- Third place: Truluck’s.
If you missed it, that means you missed "an exciting evening of Sensational Salads, Wonderful Wine, Entertainment, and a Fantastic Silent Auction." Boy, can you imagine all the amazing creative things people could possibly do with Romaine lettuce? It boggles the mind.
Dallas has had a fixation on Caesar salads for "XVII" years -- that's how hilariously mucky-muck this deal is, that it uses Roman numerals instead of plain old numbers -- pretty much thanks to La Madeleine, whose Caesar salad is one of its signature dishes, along with the tomato-basil soup. But this annual deal is a high-end chef experience with a price to match: $70 at the door for members of the AIWF and $80 for scurvy people off the street, plus $12 hotel parking. The money goes to support educational outreach programs and for scholarships.
