League of Women Voters Arlington
- When: Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, 6:30 p.m.
- Where: Odis Pharr Community Center, 3535 Marathon Street, Pantego
- Cost: Free
- Age limit: 18+
“The League is busiest during presidential election years,” says Tonya Presley, LWVA President. “We have a very active Get-Out-The-Vote campaign underway that includes producing 200,000 copies of a VOTERS GUIDE covering national, state, and local candidates; a Telethon to remind people to vote; a GOTV Coalition comprised of local and county schools, businesses and organizations; and a Candidates Forum in October. With all the enthusiasm the upcoming election has generated, it is a great time for people to become involved with the League.”
“Ms. Wade is a school teacher as well as an AISD Board member,” Ms. Presley continued. “Her talk at our Kickoff Meeting should be both informative and inspiring.”
The League of Women Voters of Arlington, a non-profit and non-partisan organization of volunteers, holds monthly meetings, frequent public forums on issues of concern to the community, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Membership is open to men and women of voting age. For further information about the League visit www.LWVArlington-TX.org or call 817-472-5982.
