Dallas-area Chick-fil-As and Chipotles giving away free food

Desperate to get people to try its more heavily-breaded chicken strips -- oops, make that "chick-n-strips" -- marriage-happy Chick-fil-A is giving them away, says Eats, between 5 and 8 p.m. on Thursday August 7, which would be today. The strips are larger than the old ones and have a new sauce, which is a walk on the wild side for Chick-fil-A, known for not changing up its menu too often.

The company has been giving away the strips to whoever and whatever: people who dressed like a cow and possibly again on Labor Day if you wear a football shirt, please oh please just try their &$#! chicken strips so that you will become tempted to return later and on that visit pay money for them.

Chipotle is also giving away food but you need to be good with paperwork and calendars and stuff like that: If you eat at a Chipotle on Tuesday, August 12, or Wednesday, August 13, save the receipt, then bring it back to a Chipotle during tax-free weekend (August 15-17) and you get a free burrito, salad, bowl, or tacos.

This is the beauty of calendars on cell phones.

Left a reminder, will put receipt in wallet and leave another reminder, then enjoy a free tasty burrito.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'd like to note that Chipolte has great guacamole for a fast food place. Never been disappointed and I am serious about guacamole.

I never understood the appeal of these free food giveaways for a few hours(like free ice cream scoop and free chicken fingers). You have thousands of people descending on one store which usually means long lines of cars driving over there and then idling and burning gas and then waiting to get in just to get a few chicken strips.

So people are going to take two hours out of their life, spend money on gas just so they can put a couple of free pieces of chicken down their gullet and clog their arteries?

Totally confused.

But chipotle guac is quite tasty.

If I had more than 30 minutes left before the promotion ran out, I'd probably have biked over to Chik-Fil-A, laughing at xmyspacenamex's assumptions the whole way.

Can you bike to Mesquite, Pavel? Cause that's the only store giving them away. Perhaps you can bike the HOV lane on 635.

Now who's laughing?

Ah, didn't realize it was just that one location.

But yeah, I probably could... if the weather wasn't in the triple digits :(

Shh....sounds better when you picture Pavel peddling his 10 speed in the HOV lane to Mesquite.

Quit ruining it.

Ruiner.

xdavidwattsx, not sure about the 2 hours. I waited in line about 3 minutes at a store in Lewisville and left with free chicken strips. They were pretty ok, regular old Chic-Fil-A chicken strips. They may have been bigger than the normal strips, but not being a frequent customer I couldn't tell you for sure.
