Flower Mound Police Department to offer Citizen Police Academy starting in September
FLOWER MOUND The Flower Mound Police Department will offer the popular Citizen Police Academy this fall for Flower Mound residents. The free, 11-week course will explore the inner workings of the Police Department. Classes will meet Thursdays from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and one Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. beginning in September in the Police training facility, 4150 Kirkpatrick Lane.
The academy provides information and hands-on experience of law enforcement practices such as recruitment, training, narcotics, firearms, K-9, and the School Resource Officer, SWAT, Patrol, Criminal Investigation, and Traffic divisions. Upon completion, participants will be eligible to join the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association and are eligible to participate in Citizens on Patrol.
Applications are available online; via email request to crime.prevention@flower-mound.com; or in-person at the Police Department. Applicants must meet certain criteria, complete the necessary application and release forms, and will be subject to a criminal history and background check. For more information, call 972-874-3357.
