Neil Young’s Greendale returns to Undermain Theatre this September
Undermain Theatre, is pleased to announce the return of its “celebrated production” of Neil Young’s Greendale to Dallas after its sold-out run at this summer’s Ice Factory Festival at the Ohio Theatre in New York City. Neil Young’s Greendale will be performed with new cast additions and new staging from September 10 - October 4 at Undermain Theatre in Dallas where it played last spring to capacity crowds and critical acclaim.
Neil Young’s Greendale, the rock opera by the legendary singer /songwriter was adapted for the stage by Undermain and opened in Dallas this spring before going to New York City this summer. This song cycle has been compared to Thornton Wilder’s Our Town and Sherwood Anderson’s Winesberg Ohio as a portrait of the changing face of small town America. Performed with a live band and sung by an ensemble cast, Greendale explores the lives of three generations of the Green family through themes ranging from corruption to mass media consolidation to environmentalism.
