New college football game coming to Dallas
A new Historically Black Colleges and Universities football game is coming to Dallas.
On November 29th, Texas Southern University will play Arkansas Pine-Bluff at the Cotton Bowl. This is the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Adding more football games to the Cotton Bowl is a good thing, especially during a holiday weekend where a lot of people will be in town.
As was said last night by City Manager Mary Suhm at our District Four town hall meeting, tourists are great for cities because they spend money in our city but don't require ongoing city services.

James Scott, says:
WTG city council! Who needs Texas/OU when there are untapped powerhouse matchups like this to be had.
"tourists are great for cities because they spend money in our city but don't require ongoing city services."
Lol - if only we could build the biggest stadium in the world here in Dallas, maybe we would get lots of...oh, wait - nevermind.

Wow, scraping at the bottom of the barrel for college games, thats really rich. No dig towards "Historically black college" athletics, but this is like trading in the Cowboys/Eagles and getting pee-wee flag football teams from Pigs Knuckle, Arkansas battling for local bragging rights. Why not go after a school like Morehouse when trying to put something like this together. Oh, thats right, Dallas doesnt like to spend money...

good thing they are putting the light rail down there. I mean, Texas Southern averages almost 19k per game, one of the best in the fcs!! this is just sad that we spend all this money trying to find more tenants for the cotton bowl, and this is what we get. typical dallas govt.

So not only do we have to deal with Okies at the Red River Shootout, now we'll have Arkies driving around on a holiday weekend after tailgaiting?
Terrific.

Pavel Lishin, says:
I don't know anything about football. Do colleges from Oklahoma and Arkansas ever compete? Because I'd love to see that.
You know, from a safe distance. Wearing whatever the equivalent of a shark-suit is for protection from hillbillies.
