UTD Dean of Arts & Humanities will pep talk neophyte Richardson ISD teachers
Aug. 14 marks the Richardson Chamber of Commerce's 50th annual New Teachers Luncheon. At this Thursday's event (scheduled for 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel), University of Texas at Dallas' Dean of Arts & Humanities Dennis Kratz will get up in front of 500-600 incoming RISD teachers and attempt to inspire them to be the best that they can be - given the fact that they'll be facing a roomful of kids who would rather be doing almost anything but attending classes. (Basing this observation strictly on anecdotal evidence.)
Dr. Kratz has titled his talk “The Rose on the Machine,” and it will endeavor to energize the neophyte classroom educators in order to generate an atmosphere of curiosity in their incipient classrooms.
"I really want to pump them up," says Kratz, re. the incoming teaching squad. "This truly is a chance to speak positively about the vivifying spirit that we forget is the key to everything.
"Without the teachers, the education lacks vital spirit,” concludes Kratz.
(Not to mention content, structure and a focus for spit wads.)
