Duncanville residents not claiming their stimulus checks
DUNCANVILLE The City of Duncanville is encouraging residents to apply for their Economic Stimulus Payment (ESP) as it is estimated that more than $180,000 remains unclaimed by Duncanville residents.
Assistant City Manager Jeanne Fralicks indicated that hundreds of residents have not received their ESP, which can range from $300 for individuals and $600 for married couples and possibly more if they have qualifying children.
“According to IRS records, approximately 600 individuals residing in the City of Duncanville who received social security or veterans benefits during 2007 have not received their Economic Stimulus Payment. Therefore, Duncanville residents are eligible to receive over $180,000,” Fralicks said.
For most individuals, the payment was automatic when they filed their 2007 tax return. However, many senior citizens, veterans, people with disabilities, and low income workers who don’t normally file a return, do not realize that they need to file the 1040A form to receive their stimulus check.
“As a result, Councilman Ken Weaver and City staff are coordinating outreach activities that will help locate these individuals and provide the assistance they may need to file their 1040A form,” added Fralicks.
Duncanville senior citizens, veterans, people with disabilities and/or low income workers who need assistance with this process are encouraged to contact Assistant City Manager Jeanne Fralicks at (972) 780-5004.

I wonder how many of these people discover that some enterprising criminal has filed on their behalf.
