Heading the Gensler team are Ted Kollaja and Paul Manno, both principals at Gensler.

According to Mr. Kollaja, Gensler was selected from three finalists for the assignment, which includes 13,000 square feet of space overlooking Performance Park, the Center’s 10-acre park. “We’re thrilled to be involved with such a respected opera company in this spectacular new facility,” he said. The Winspear Opera House will open in October 2009.

The Dallas Opera team includes John Cody – board president; John Gage - director of operations; Doug Curtis – the Center’s vice president of design and construction; and Jeff Innmon –project manager for the Winspear Opera House. “It has been incredible to be working on such a high-profile endeavor with such a creative group of people,” Mr. Manno said. “We see this assignment as our way to be a part of some of the most exciting architecture in Dallas history.”

Mr. Cody says the relationship has been extremely successful. “What impressed us from their presentation was the consistency of the culture of the Gensler organization. As we get deeper into the project, we are even more convinced that we made the right choice…working with Gensler only gets better. The level of professionalism is always there,” he said.

The Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House was designed by Foster + Partners, under the direction of Pritzker Prize-winning architect Norman Foster; the architect of record for the building is Kendall Heaton in Houston.
