Jack Foltyn, a Dallas-based actor, writer, dancer, singer, choreographer, and Entertainer of the Year 2007, has selected the Cox Building Playhouse in Old Historic Plano for the premiere of "Just Jack," opening August 15, 2008, with 8 performances including a special engagement performance on August 16, 2008 in memory of Elvis Presley's death called "One Night With You."
Jack Foltyn has a lot of stories to discuss with only an hour and a half to do it in. Based on the Elvis Presley 1968 Comeback Special, picture if you will an intimate space where Mr. Foltyn's band talks amongst each other and asks Mr. Foltyn, the man himself, questions that everyone has always wanted to ask but has never had the chance. This unique show brings to light the ups and downs of Foltyn's career as an entertainer and how his personal story parallels to the life and career of the King himself.
Mr. Foltyn will tell these stories through words and song. Jack Foltyn promises to make this show special for all of his fans and all those Elvis lovers out there. He will be performing quite a few Elvis favorites with the added perk of some of his original works, which won him best soundtrack for the independent movie, "Bicycle Bobby." "I don't think a lot of people know that I do write my own music because they have only seen me perform as Elvis," Foltyn said. "I want people to see me as an artist and actor who can portray anyone at any given moment." If you want to see just another carbon-copy Elvis impersonator, don't come see this show. Jack Foltyn is much more than that. He is the best tribute artist to the King. He has the unique ability to bring the spirit of Elvis but still keep the feeling of Jack there.
Foltyn hopes to bring people to a personal level with him as an entertainer and person. "I think people, especially my fans, have a right to know what I, or any artist they have come to love, have overcome, sacrificed and gone through in life to get to where we are today." Foltyn continues, "I don't think people realize that we are just as human as they are, but the world we struggle to succeed and survive in has such a different outlook of reality." He created this show to help explain and get that message across.
Jack Foltyn's successful stint of portraying Elvis in the recent Garland Plaza Theatre show, "Coming Home," came with rave reviews. Mr. Foltyn, being sanctioned by Graceland to do Elvis, helps people realize that they are watching someone with validation and credibility. His musical about the King, "Walk a Mile in My Shoes," won best original musical as well. Don't miss another chance to see Foltyn live. Opening night will be a Q&A for Mr. Foltyn's audience and fans may ask him anything and even request songs. "It will be a very different show," Foltyn says. "It's more of a love letter to my fans from me."
"Just Jack" will be running from August 15 - 31, 2008. For reservations, call 972-239-3657 or purchase online.
