Fort Worth Cats 5, El Paso Diablos 3


It was the Cats' second straight win as they returned home following a 10-game road trip.

Pat O'Sullivan belted a three-run home run in his first home at bat as the Fort Worth Cats defeated El Paso 5-3 on Thursday night at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth. It was the Cats' second straight win as they returned home following a 10-game road trip.

The Cats got off to a hot start on Thursday in the first against El Paso starter Adam Blackley. Brian Fryer started the inning with a walk, Ed Montague doubled before Pat O'Sullivan belted a 3-0 pitch to the berm in left for a 3-0 Cats lead.

They added another run in the first inning on a Charles Carter RBI single.

El Paso got on the scoreboard in the third inning as Jorge Alvarez doubled home a run to narrow the Fort Worth lead 4-1. Nelson Teilon belted a leadoff homer in the fifth, his 15th of the season as the Cats took a 5-1 lead.

The Diablos scored twice in the ninth on Alvarez's 11th home run of the season, but left the tying run on base when the game ended as Jon Hunton picked up his 20th save of the season. The Diablos left 14 runners total in the game.

Ryan Riddle (5-4) got the win as he allowed one run on seven hits in five innings pitched. Adam Blackley (7-8) took the loss, also going five innings and giving up five runs on 10 hits.

The series continues on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. as Joel Kirsten goes to the mound for the Cats. He will be opposed by David Whigham.
