$17 million deficit means no new Plano fire station for now
Plano has decided to hold off on building its new fire station, which would cost the city $5 million for construction, in addition to $2 million a year to staff and maintain. The city faces a $17 million deficit and is looking everywhere to cut costs. The station, which would otherwise have started construction by now, may be built next year.
Oh, remember simpler times when Plano council members went back and forth on whether to spend $3 million on a dancing water fountain? If only they'd built it with super propulsion, the city might not need any fire stations at all.

Hmmm so..... this means that the 'rich' communities are starting to feel the pinch as much as the rest of us?
Cool!

What.
You realize that Plano is full of $30,000 millionaires, right? Hardly rich.

That's East Plano. I know a lot of folks up there, in both East and West Plano; quite an number had left for Frisco/The Colony as their area was getting to.... rundown.
It's called living beyond your means...
Excuse my lack of sympathy - but I've never been able to wrap my mind around the whole keeping-up-with-the-Jones, or something new every month concepts.

You people are completely missing the real tragedy here. No new firehouse – No new FIREMEN!!! Let’s focus on what really matters here!
