Reunion Arena could start coming down in March ‘09
But the asbestos in Reunion Arena will meet its maker as early as October.
On Monday, Dallas City staff will present the City Council with a recommended time line for Reunion Arena's demolition. The Council is expected to start searching for a demolition contractor in two months, who will lead the process of salvaging certain parts of the building, like the scoreboard and reusable steel, and disposing of the rest. The process should begin in March and will take up to a year and cost around $6 million.
But the charm of the arena, and by charm we mean asbestos, will start coming down in October.

Since I'm not originally from here, I wish someone had told me earlier that Reunion Arena and Reunion Tower are two different things. <br>It would have saved a lot of embarassment... <br>"WHAT?! They can't tear that down! It's a staple of the Dallas skyline!"

What other tips and tricks should we share with our new fellow Dallasite besides don't swim in the Trinity River?
