Dallas’ homeless czar to take plan to build 700 homes to city council

The plan is an effort to end chronic homelessness and relieve overcrowding at the new homeless shelter, The Bridge.

Mike Rawlings, who is in charge of homeless solutions for the city, (a.k.a. the "Homeless Czar"), will bring a new plan to Dallas City Council next month. The plan involves building 700 homes in an effort to end chronic homelessness and relieve overcrowding at the new, yet already overcrowded, homeless shelter The Bridge. The plan also involves providing social services once a person is placed in one of the homes.

Chris Kidd, says:

Theres nothing wrong with the concept,in fact its a noble concept. But, id make these people work for a new home ala habitat for humanity. Put a little sweat equity into earning a home.
