Rowlett Police warn against brazen daytime break-ins

7

— After five brazen daytime break-ins within the last two weeks on the east side of Rowlett, the Rowlett Police Department is warning citizens to take extra precautions.

Two males have been kicking in doors, only to flee when they realize someone is at home. The suspects are described as being black, about 18 years old and 16 years old.

Thus far, no one has been injured and nothing has been stolen.

Can you expect anything else? Schools are teaching them that it's ok. Do as little as you can to get by. So these kids are being productive.

"Schools are teaching them that it's ok"?

Yeah, right.

The problem with most school districts is that they are filled with ignorant adults that think schools and teachers are supposed to raise the children and teach them about life and religion. This is the PARENTS job!!!!

Quit using the stupid conservative tactic of blaming every place of learning as the root of all evil. If PARENTS would get involved in these kids' lives and raise them better maybe we wouldn't have such dipsticks. Sounds like you've been listening to too much Rush Limbaugh.

Of course it's parents, If parents participated in the schools a little more and show an interest maybe the schools would have a little more pride in the academics. Yes, if Rush says it then I guess him and I are in the same mindset. What is going to push kids to do their best? if you can't rely on their parents then lets rely on the surroundings other than home. i.e. school.

I seriously fail to see what schools have to do with the crimes these kids are committing.

Might as well blame McDonald's. The beef growth hormones are clearly causing a chemical imbalance in their brains, causing them to go on a crime spree.

Maybe if we'd resurrect the Ross brothers to kick these kids around for a bit, they'd shape up and no streets would need renaming.

If we can't rely on the parents, then we basically have to cross our fingers because that kid is facing an uphill battle.

Teachers can only give so much attention to each child they have in class each day and counselors run a very distant second to parents as nurturers. Most kids I've seen in alternative schools have one thing in common: crappy parent(s) that don't pay attention to them.

It's true that we can't always rely on parents, but outside of holding parents responsible for their kid's actions, I don't see how the school can help them. Usually the teachers and principals just rush to get that delinquent child out the door because they can't deal with them anymore. What's the next stop after that? Probably jail.
