Contemporary Theatre of Dallas has a hit on their hands with the last show of their 2007-2008 season. A Streetcar Named Desire has been getting glowing reviews due to the stellar cast, wonderful direction, and careful handling of this Tennessee Williams' classic. Because of its popularity, the show has been extended for 4 more performances until September 7.
This is the story of Blanche DuBois, a delusion-prone alcoholic who flees her scandalous past and lost ancestral plantation to seek refuge with her sister Stella in working-class New Orleans. However, Blanche's feminine wiles are no match for the cunning and brutality of her brother-in-law Stanley Kowalski, who won't let Blanche's secrets stay buried back in Mississippi.
Directed by Rene Moreno, the outstanding cast features Lydia Mackay as Blanche, Clay Yocum as Stanley, and Jessica Wiggers as Stella. Other local favorites round out this awesome cast: Russell DeGrazier as Mitch, Marianne Galloway as Eunice, and John Venable as Steve. Additional cast members include Thiago Martins, Kyle May, Nancy Sherrard, Tippi Hunter, and Andrews Cope.
$10 student rush tickets go on sale to students with ID 10 minutes before curtain and also there are two-for-one tickets Thursdays and Sundays for KERA and ArtsCard members. Purchase tickets online or by calling 214-828-0094.
