Movie event with Warren Buffet in (satellite) attendance: I.O.U.S.A.
Colossal national debt got you down? Misery loves company, so hang out with an auditorium full of other hangdogs at a theater near you - and wallow in it, baby!
I.O.U.S.A.: Live With Warren Buffet, Pete Peterson & Dave Walker
Fathom and Roadside Attractions present I.O.U.S.A.: Live with Warren Buffett, Pete Peterson & Dave Walker in select movie theatres for one night only, Thursday, August 21st. This event will include the critically-acclaimed documentary, I.O.U.S.A., and a LIVE discussion about America's economic crisis and what we can do to change course. The discussion with America's most notable financial leaders promises riveting dialogue and keen insight into the crisis we currently face. The panel will be moderated by Rebecca Quick, co-anchor of CNBC's financial news show Squawk Box. The must-see documentary uncovers the source of critical economic concerns that touch the lives of every American. A tapestry of archival footage, hard data and candid interviews woven together, it paints an authentic profile of today's economic condition. Solutions for how we can impact this nationwide crisis and evolve into a more fiscally sound nation for future generations are offered by the documentary's powerful conclusion.

A little documentary called I.O.U.S.A. opens in limited release on Friday (Aug. 22). It's a film about our enormous (and ever-growing) national debt, which* could fill the Valles Marineris about 3.225 times, if measured in terms of Humvee loads of $100 bills.
'Course, we'd have to burn fossil fuel to get all those greenbacks to Mars, so that scenario's a bad idea on several levels. Which means it'll probably soon become national policy.
("That's right, soldier - back it right up to the rim, there. A little farther. Just a bit more... oops.")
There's a special one-time-only event-type show on Thurs., Aug. 21 (see sidebar) which includes a live via satellite discussion with Warren Buffet, everyone's favorite self-made billionaire, who speaks up along with Pete Peterson and Dave Walker about the worrisome state of our national debt and what we working stiffs might actually be able to do about it.
(HINT: 152 more days* and counting.)
Being a proponent of burying one's head in the sand in times of strife (which approach will at least protect one's head - never mind that whole breathing thing), the only incentive for me to attend a screening of this film might be because the promotional blurbs suggest that the film will "turn the ins and outs of debt and deficits into something dynamic, fun and even inspirational..."
Now, THAT'S gonna take some deep-down magical mojo.
