Frisco RoughRiders 12, San Antonio Missions 14
The San Antonio Missions (67-60) defeated the Frisco RoughRiders (78-50) in an extra inning shoot out Wednesday night by a score of 14-12. The Missions scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at 10 and send the game into extras. After both teams scored two runs in the 10th frame to keep the game going into the 12th, Kyle Blanks finished the game with a two run home run that gave the Missions the 14-12 win.
The ‘Riders took an early lead in the first inning when Hank Blalock doubled and drove in Julio Borbon but the Missions answered in their half of the first when they put together two runs to take a 2-1 lead. Frisco followed with four runs in the second when three Frisco doubles lead to three of the four runs scored in the inning.
The RoughRiders had an 8-7 lead going into the eight and extended their lead to 9-7 when Chad Tracy walked with the bases loaded and Jose Vallejo scored. Steve Murphy followed with a base hit that plated Blalock and made the score 10-7. Blanks tied the game at 10 in the bottom half of the inning with a two run double that scored Gabriel Lopez and Drew Macias.
The game remained tied at 10 and went into the tenth inning where Tracy gave the ‘Riders a 12-10 lead when he homered to left field with Dustin Majewski on board. San Antonio answered in their half of the 10th scoring two runs on a Colt Morton pinch hit double that tied the game at 12.
Blanks finished off the ‘Riders in the 12th inning with his second home run of the night that gave the Missions the 14-12 win.
Zack Parker (3-1) started the game and pitched into the third inning before handing the game over to the bullpen. Five Frisco pitchers came out of the bullpen to pitch 8 2/3 innings. 12 total pitchers were used in the game with Michael Ekstrom picking up the win and Beau Jones the loss.
Chad Tracy led the RoughRiders offense going 3-for-6 with three RBI, two runs scored, and a home run. Murphy and Manny Pina added six hits with two RBI and a run scored. Four other RoughRiders collected multiple hits including Blalock who went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
The series continues Thursday night in San Antonio as Frisco starter Michael Schlact (6-9, 5.52) faces off against San Antonio’s Will Inman (8-7, 3.51) scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
