Pegasus News Week in View: Joys and Sorrows edition
¡Buen viaje! to our youngest staffer Chad Jones as he departs for a semester abroad in Spain. As you can see from his profile he started building Pegasus News in May of 2006 (when he was still a teenager). His wicked wit shaped our site's voice, and we hope he'll continue to contribute.
Metro: The irony is, Fort Worth's community tree planting program may benefit from natural gas drilling. Minnie profiles Allen's city manager. A Dallas Peace Times article about DA Craig Watkins' work with the Innocence Project sparked dialogue about victims' rights. Farmers Branch is having trouble making ends meet -- perhaps because of the cost of defending its immigration policies against lawsuits? Dallas County's budget woes persist, and some want to see jailbirds pay. Dallas' council approved a timeline to tear down Reunion Arena, while the zoo decided to keep Jenny the elephant. A DPD couple needs help to get on Extreme Makeover Home Edition
Acting out: Shawn spotlights Jerry Russell, founder of Stage West and Director of The Long Christmas Ride Home. MBS found My Favorite Animal (presented by The Modern Stage) delightful, and John Garcia reviews Uptown Players' Zanna, Don't!
Flix: Shawn presents us with the first in what's planned as an ongoing series of Bollywood film reviews, with his look at Bachna Ae Haseeno. Returning to Hollywood from Bollywood, film guy John braved a screening of the not-previewed-for-critics creepshow Mirrors, starring Jack Bauer (er, we mean Kiefer Sutherland) as a suspended cop with a bad case of reflectaphobia. Alex snagged an interview with Rainn Wilson, star of The Rocker, and also reviewed the movie. Check the Movies tab on Friday for our reviewers' takes on Death Race, Elegy and The Longshots, with an assessment of Frozen River showing up by Saturday a.m.
