— The incidence of murders is down according to the Dallas police department.

There have been 105 murders in the city in 2008 compared with 140 by this time in 2007, which represents a drop of 25%.

There's been a drop in crime overall of 7%, but the police also connect the decrease in murders to a stronger campaign from the narcotics squad against drugs.
