Dallas billionaire Harold Simmons bankrolling ads that link Obama to terrorism

15

The American Issues Project, which made harshly negative ads linking Presidential candidate Barack Obama to terrorism, filed a financial report that identified its funding source as Dallas billionaire Harold Simmons.

Way to go, Harold. Thanks for giving Dallas one more thing to feel proud about.

What's the matter Harold? Afraid you won't get to keep raking in all that money?

Worried that all those tax breaks might be tweaked a bit and the rest of us won't be getting the royal shaft anymore?

Or is it simply because this is a person not of lily-white heritage?

I am so unbelievably tired of this insanity.

Get used to it, Ann Marie.

I don't think it's even really started yet.

Harold Simmons is and always has been a total ass to people that dont suscribe to his right-wing nutjob agenda. Remember folks, look past the smoke and mirrors of old bigots like harold and see the truth of what anothert go-round with the repub neo-cons will bring us...

I'm not sure if this is any worse or less worse than that ridiculous new book put out by the swift boat guys. You know, the one where half of it has already been patently discredited as false. I can't understand how stuff like that even gets printed or how it's not libel.

If somebody were going to libel me in a totally ridiculous way, I'd want it to be a rich guy ;-)

Jason Rice, says:

Now let me get this straight, am I supposed to be happy/sad a billionaire is badmouthing a millionaire or sad/happy that a billionaire is not badmouthing both millionaires?

I'm slow. Help me here.

AnnMarie Wilson, says:

It's simple Jason: you don't (if you have ethics that is) float mis-information or outright lies about a person to .... well let's see...

...destroy their reputation... try to scare weak people in to not supporting this person...

I'm sorry but I can't provide more examples. Quite frankly I had to keep deleting sentences that were complete rants about this entire issue of blatant lies and fear tactics, to support the millionaire and billionaire lifestyle.

Yes I'm just one of the little people - maybe it's nothing more then jealousy huh?

Then we should be happy to be jealous. (Tracy is a genius)

Yeah - I'd love to get up in arms, but let's be honest, I wish to h*ll I was black so I could at least fool myself to identify remotely with one candidate. These creatures are as distant from me in the food chain as a bioluminescent deep sea squid, but somehow I'm supposed to feel they have my interests at heart.

It's like cattle getting to vote for their meat cutter.

Feh! I'm voting for Pedro finally something I unabashedly agree with snowboard09 on.

At least this man is intelligent, works hard, finished at the top of his class, was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth - has had the opposite with mix-heritage.

He doesn't live off handouts, his spouse, and I'll be he knows exactly how many homes he has..

So yeah, I can relate to him and his wife a lot more... and in my deepest hope and wish, that they relate to the rest of us - the non-McCains.

The single really good thing about this thread -- no matter how Ann-Marie and I quibble, is that this whole PAC is one guy. Swiftboat II isn't many more.

Look on the other side of the aisle and it's the same.

PACs are a dangerous deception nowadays and I think these cases prove their days of usefulness have passed.

Hilarious catch AnnMarie. Those evil b@st@rds!

::his group's non-profit status allowed it to participate in elections as long as it does a majority of policy work, which it plans to do

Plans to do. LOL!

"No really, your honor, sure it LOOKS like I completely circumvented election law, but I PLAN to feed the homeless and shelter the hungry and do everything right from now on as a non-profit ... I was just slandering as a way to build UP to all that good."

Nice. Can we please pull the plug on all these sleazemongers now? Non-profit status is a specific and well regulated privilege down in this lower end of the spectrum. And Politics is the one thing you CAN'T do under that protection.

Can we burn their paperwork now, please?
