Waste water recycling could lead to Fort Worth municipal profits

The City of Fort Worth is considering authorization of a plan to spend $1.8 million on a pipeline design which would carry not-quite-potable treated waste water north from the Village Creek treatment facility towards DFW Airport.

Along the way, the water could be tapped into (though not for tap water purposes) by industrial users, such as golf courses or gas well drillers.

Under the proposed scenario, treated waste water that would normally be dumped right back into the natural system (i.e., rivers and lakes) would now be made available for non-drinking uses. At a profit to the "owner" of the water, in this case the city of Fort Worth. This practice is already in operation in El Paso and San Antonio.

Sounds like a plan. At least until the rivers and lakes dry up.
