McKinney police on the prowl for drunk drivers

— The McKinney Police Department is once again working with TxDOT to curb drunk driving during the next several weeks. The McKinney Police Department has received a grant from TxDOT to increase their manpower focused on drinking and driving.

"Safety experts continually remind us that drunk driving is a huge danger on our roadways," said McKinney Police Department Assistant Chief Rex Redden. "Getting behind the wheel after you've been drinking is always dangerous, and we are urging residents to never drink and drive."

MPD and local law enforcement agencies are making an extra effort to spot and stop drunk drivers. Year after year, Texas is among the states with the highest incidents of drunk driving in the nation according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

"Our police officers are committed to keeping McKinney streets safe," said Redden. "Designate a sober driver before you start drinking, call someone to pick you up if you have been drinking and need to get somewhere, or just stay where you are. If you drink and drive, you will go to jail."

Yeah right, you might go to jail but you'll be back out in no time at all. I meet people all the time that tell me they are on their 4th, 5th DUI ticket. And when I read in the paper the accidents happen by what seems mostly prior offenders. So to conclude my rant. (if you don't get it) is to do away with them the first time around. (when I say do away I mean take their drivers licenses and vehicles away from them.) What in the world makes them think driving is a right?

GWAR / Kingdom of Sorrow / Toxic Holocaust Only lead singer Oderus Urungus (aka Dave Brockie) has stuck around since GWAR's start 23 years ago, but the huge costumes, raunchy and obscene lyrics, and fluids spraying into the audience are sure to be on full display as the metal band makes its return to Dallas.
