The Texas Rangers' first series sweep of the season could not have come at a better time, as the reeling Rangers defeated the Royals 3-2 in Kansas City on Wednesday night. The three-game sweep stopped a 3-14 slide, and put the Rangers up to 66-68 on the season.

It hasn't been this hard to be a Royals fan since the 1780s
Rangers rookie starter Matt Harrison pitched one of his better games this season, giving up just two runs --one of them earned-- over six-plus innings. Harrison walked two and struck out four, and is now 6-3 with a getting-near-respectable 5.67 ERA.
Harrison looked like he was going to be the unlucky loser in a 2-1 game until the top of the seventh, when Jerrod Saltalamacchia doubled in Chris Davis for the tying run, then scored on a Royals throwing error to make it 3-2. Saltalamacchia finished the game 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, and upped his average to .254.
Most of Texas' other offensive output came from two rookies: Brandon Boggs went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the top of the fourth, while Chris Davis went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
The real test of the Rangers' mettle will come next, as they head to California to face the American League-best LA Angels in a four-game series.

GWAR / Kingdom of Sorrow / Toxic Holocaust Only lead singer Oderus Urungus (aka Dave Brockie) has stuck around since GWAR's start 23 years ago, but the huge costumes, raunchy and obscene lyrics, and fluids spraying into the audience are sure to be on full display as the metal band makes its return to Dallas.
