Copper thieves nab wires at Fort Worth sports complex
Showing yet again that copper thieves have no shame, about 10,000 feet of wiring used to help light fields in Fort Worth where inner city kids play baseball and football was stolen this week. The thieves caused between $15,000-$20,000 in damage to steal copper that's worth around $1,000 (if they can sell it, that is).
There's not any crime that makes sense to me, but this kind of thing is especially disheartening.

I think an appropriate punishment, when caught, would be to make these guys serve out a few thousand community service hours as mascots for the teams that use the stadiums.
You know, in addition to paying for the damages caused and maybe some jail time, too.

Come on!! We're in Texas, and we need to address this matter in a more Texas style. They could be wrapped in the copper wire, and plugged into the nearest outlet. No more junkie copper thieves. OK, so we’ll let them be the team mascot for a few games ONLY on the really hot days, then plug’em into an outlet. Now that would be truly Texas style. We would have the deep seeded love of sports, AND electrocution. WOO HOO!! What a GONGA!!!
