— Denton Police have shut down two different criminal rings this week ending a month long crime spree. Four adults and one juvenile were arrested for participating in multiple residential burglaries and robberies. The suspects are believed to have been involved in 15 burglaries and four robberies that occurred within the city limits of Denton. The suspects have also been linked to residential burglaries in Denton County and multiple robberies in the metroplex area.

The burglaries occurred in all areas of Denton with no particular pattern. A citizen with a record of his property’s serial number gave investigators the initial break in the case. Stolen items from this burglary were recovered from a Dallas pawn shop. An extensive investigation was conducted by intelligence and investigative sections leading to the location of a cooperating witness. Investigators were able to link each suspect with multiple crime scenes. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests and charges are anticipated.

Arrested were:

Prince Antwon Bowens, DOB 09/11/1987, Burglary of a Habitation

Travis Joshua, DOB 08/23/1988, Burglary of a Habitation

Brynell McFarland, DOB 11/02/1987, Burglary of a Habitation

Aaron Jenks, DOB 07/23/1986, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity/ Aggravated Robbery

Juvenile Male Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity/ Aggravated Robbery

Denton Police ended a second crime ring involving home invasion robberies of individuals involved in the drug trade. Four adults were arrested for their involvement in a home invasion robbery ring. The suspects committed at least two home invasion robberies and possibly more that were not reported. In each case, the victim was beaten up and property taken. During the investigation, a victim was asked if anyone had been in his residence recently and he named Chapman. Investigators were able to link Chapman to stolen property that was recovered. Chapman was also linked to the other suspects developed during the course of the investigations. The investigation determined that Chapman would drive his accomplices to the residence of an intended target and wait in the car while the others entered the residence and committed the robbery.

“I am extremely pleased with the hard work and dedication of our investigators in these cases," said Chief Roy Minter. "These arrests send a loud and clear message that Denton is not the place for criminals to come and ply their trade.”

Arrested were:

Chadwick Chapman, DOB 11/24/1988, Robbery - $25,000 Bond; Possession of 2oz Marijuana - $1,000 Bond

Carlton Kyle Mason, DOB 02/18/1986, Aggravated Robbery - $50,000 Bond
