Interview with Jocelyn Wiebe, Director of Collected Stories
I had mentioned earlier this week that Second Thought Theatre is getting ready to kick off their 5th anniversary season with Collected Stories. This young theater company has made a really successful mark on the theater community and it will be no doubt that they will continue to do so. I feature Jocelyn Wiebe this week who is directing the show and is also a new member to the STT Artistic Ensemble.
We start by talking about her career and how she arrived in Dallas, which was pretty recent. I ask about her first thoughts on the DFW theatre scene and what attracted her to Second Thought Theatre. She talks about what the theater company has to offer and how she became involved.
Collected Stories
- When: Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, 7:30 p.m.
- Where: Addison Theatre Center, 15650 Addison Road, Addison
- Cost: $20
- Age limit: Not available
I ask how she got chosen to direct Collected Stories and what related to her in this piece. She discusses her directorial vision with the designers as well as the experience of directing a two-person show.
I end the interview by asking what she wants the audience to walk away thinking and discussing.
Collected Stories looks at the relationship between teacher and student revolving around Ruth, a famous aging author, and her quirky protégé, the tenacious Lisa. As Lisa flourishes under Ruth’s tutelage, a wedge begin to work its way between the women. The show runs August 28 - September 13 and you can call 972-450-6232 to purchase tickets.
