Dallas County Commissioners have scheduled an emergency meeting to discuss county preparations for possible Hurricane Gustav evacuations. The meeting will be held today at 4:30pm in the Dallas County Commissioners Court.
Dallas County has been contacted by the Office of the Governor to activate the local shelter hub to accommodate possible Hurricane Gustav evacuees. The County has already been asked by the Governor's office to prepare for 4100 evacuees that could arrive by air as soon as Sunday.
"We are fully prepared to assist the state of Texas and those impacted by Hurricane Gustav," said County Judge Jim Foster.
County officials have been closely monitoring the situation in anticipation of the need to coordinate temporary shelters for individuals affected by Hurricane Gustav.
